Nomination Guidelines

How nominations work at the Best Business Awards

A clear, step-by-step guide to entering — what we look for, who can nominate, and how every entry is judged. Read this before you submit so your entry has the best possible chance.

Section 01

What is a nomination?

A nomination is a powerful way of putting an individual, team or organisation in the spotlight — someone whose talent and results you genuinely admire. Recognising the work of others is a vital part of building a stronger, fairer business community, and celebrating the public benefit of that work.

Whether you are a colleague, customer, supplier or leader, a nomination makes sure the best, brightest and hardest-working organisations see their name in lights — on behalf of you, your team and the people who matter to you.

Section 02

When are nominations open?

Entries for the inaugural Best Business Awards are open now and close on 25 June 2026, the evening of the awards ceremony at the Citygate Centre, Bournemouth. We encourage you to enter early so your entry has the best possible chance.

Section 03

How to submit a nomination

Making a nomination is straightforward and designed to be targeted, not time-consuming. Complete the online form for the relevant category — every entry is submitted directly to our independent judging panel once you click submit. Each category has a published set of criteria; the strongest entries directly evidence each one.

Section 04

Who can nominate?

Nominations can be made by the nominees themselves, by a third party, or by the organisers. Peers, employers, clients, suppliers, customers and colleagues who have seen excellent work first-hand are all encouraged to put a business forward. Entries are open to organisations of every size and sector — from sole traders and scaling SMEs to established, mid-tier and large institutions.

Section 05

Why get nominated?

Nominating someone is a great way to pause and express genuine appreciation. There's no better feeling for a nominee than seeing their hard work, enthusiasm and diligence recognised — not only by you and your colleagues, but by the whole region.

Being nominated grows brand awareness, builds credibility and celebrates the people behind the work. The ceremony brings together hundreds of guests — finalists, judges, sponsors and business leaders — for an evening of recognition and high-calibre networking.

A pioneering approach: work that goes above and beyond what is expected of any good operator in the field.
Genuine enthusiasm for the role and a willingness to inspire clients, teams and individuals through change.
Visible, tangible support of clients, communities and team members.
Step by Step

Our process

From submission to ceremony, here is exactly how your entry moves through the awards.

  1. 01

Identify the individual, team or business you want to recognise, and choose the most relevant category.

  2. 02

Complete the entry form — both individuals and organisations are welcome to submit nominations for any published category.

  3. 03

Address the published criteria for your chosen category. Strong entries directly evidence each one.

  4. 04

Submit. An automated confirmation email is sent immediately, with a link to complete your application.

  5. 05

We may follow up by email or phone to verify details, ask for more information, or simply to thank you.

  6. 06

The organisers may move a nomination to a more appropriate category where the judging panel considers it a better fit.

  7. 07

Self-nominations and third-party nominations are equally welcome and judged on the same criteria.

  8. 08

A business may be nominated in more than one category — refer to each category's criteria before entering.
